Conor Brown

Founder & Managing Director

Conor has been working in the search industry since 2012. He spent more than seven years working for an executive search firm where he led their Front Office finance team. He has an extensive network built up over years of helping some of the most sophisticated trading firms, market makers and hedge funds build their teams.

Conor has helped companies hire across North America, Europe, and APAC. Through his work he has had the opportunity to spend time in all these locations deepening his relationships with candidates and clients alike, and really understanding the culture and nuances of the firms he represents and works with.

Mandates have ranged from Head of Trading and senior Portfolio Manager/CIO level down to quantitative researchers embarking on their first role out of academia.

Conor founded Bowden Brown to continue helping connect the best and brightest with some of the most innovative and successful firms in the industry and using this platform to ensure that companies are equipped to face the many, and ever evolving challenges inherent in growing.

The aim is to be the first name a company thinks of when they need to make a business-critical hire, and to be a trusted partner that our clients can rely on.

Luke Smith

Senior Consultant – Technology 

Luke’s a highly experienced technical recruiter who has been working in the systematic trading industry since 2016. He has partnered with CTOs and Tech Leads helping them to secure the most in-demand technologists. 

Luke worked internally for Goldman Sachs on their London trading floor supporting Partners and Managing Directors across their Market Making and Execution desks. He has also spent time at another search firm where he played a leading role in building trading technology teams globally for some of the world’s top hedge funds and prop trading firms. 

Having been immersed in these markets for as long as he has Luke has built an impressive global network in the technology community that he is able to leverage effectively when it comes to sourcing for his client base.  

Luke has a genuine interest in technology and works hard to keep up to date with developments and changes in what is an ever-evolving market. 

Steffan Jones

Senior Consultant – Technology 

Steffan has been working in financial recruitment since 2018. He started his career at a search firm specialising in the technology space for the quantitative trading/fintech and crypto space. 

At the start of 2022 he joined a Digital Assets trading firm as their head of recruitment where he helped to scale their team from 35 people to over 75 in less than a year, he was heavily involved in the technical screening of candidates and working in conjunction with technical hiring managers and the firms leadership team.  

Steffan has covered a broad remit of roles, with a particular focus on technology, both front and back office, from infrastructure to quant engineering. His focus has been pairing individuals to environments and specialist roles while ensuring a pragmatic, business success focussed mindset.

With experience in delivering across Geographies (EMEA/ APAC/ Americas), and across all experience levels from graduates to C-Suite, Steffan has covered the full spectrum. 

Steffan returned to agency recruiting to join Bowden Brown, with a mandate to expand our ability to deliver the highest quality tech/engineering focussed hires, across the Quantitative Trading, Crypto and Fintech markets.

Alfie Fuller

Consultant – Trading & Research 

Alfie joined Bowden Brown in 2022 following his graduation from the University of Manchester. He works on the Quantitative Trading and Research side of the business and has played a key role in building our coverage in that market, sourcing extremely capable candidates across different experience levels and managing them through the recruitment process from first approach to successful client onboarding. 

Alfie has worked extremely hard to build his market knowledge and expertise in an industry where there is a lot to learn. 

He has consistently received excellent candidate feedback from those that have partnered with him on their search, with people recognising the insights he has been able to offer and the strong relationships he has formed.
